Space Elevator’s third album, Persona Non Grata is the band’s most ambitious so far and creates an almost cinematic feel. The album showcases the band’s eclectic style and abilities but is also their heaviest album to date.
The songs are underpinned by hooks and musical motifs throughout complimenting The Duchess’ soaring vocals and multi layered harmonies.
Space Elevator was formed by guitarist David Young and flamboyant lead singer The Duchess. The line up is completed by Brian Greene (drums) and Chas Maguire (bass)
Releasing their debut album in 2015, the band produced a contemporary rock album that draws on the influences of the best and biggest artists in rock history while creating their own uniquely identifiable sound.
Space Elevator II saw the band release an album with a toughened up and more direct sound without abandoning their penchant for ambitious arrangements when required.
The album featured “Queen For A Day” a song dedicated to Freddie Mercury and which featured Freddie collaborator Mike Moran on piano along with the single “We Can Fly”, the video for which was shot in Canada atop the largest privately owned satellite dish in the world owned by Thoth Technology, designers of the world’s first 20km high space elevator and collaborators with the band on Thoth’s space project.
Space Elevator did their first headline UK tour in 2018 with additional headline and festival dates in 2019 and early 2020. They were preparing for a European tour in April 2020 with legendary songwriter/musician Russ Ballard when Covid subsequently appeared.
The band’s third album Persona Non Grata will be released on February 25th 2022 by ON-Stage Records. A European tour is currently being booked for April/May with UK dates to follow.
The Duchess will be performing with rock band Thunder on their arena tour in May 2022. She has also performed with Steven Van Zandt and Richie Sambora. David Young was one of the guitarists in the Queen show We Will Rock You at The Dominion in London’s West End
